One of the most visited and holiest places of Ajmer; the Ajmer Dargah is a Sufi shrine which is perfect emblem of harmony and spirituality, and a must-visit for people seeking peace and tranquillity. Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, who was a Persian Sufi saint, is enshrined in this place owing to his secular preaching’s. He is believed to be the descendant of Muhammad, and it is on his request that he came to India. It is believed that if you pray for anything with a pure heart at the Ajmer Dargah, it is bound to be fulfilled.

History of Ajmer Sharif Dargah

Dargah Sharif or Ajmer Sharif is the tomb of a sufi saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, who came to Ajmer from Persia in 1192. Hazrat Khwaja Moin-Ud-Din Chisti was considered as the founder of Islam in India and a great preacher of Islam throughout the world. He was widely known for his noble preaching and social deeds. . He died in 1236, and since then his resting place is known to have immense spiritual powers. It is believed that every wish made from a pure heart at Dargah Sharif gets fulfilled. Constructed with a white marble, it has 11 arches and a Persian inscription running through the full length of the building. It has a marble dome and the actual tomb inside is surrounded by a silver platform. The tomb attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every year on the death anniversary of the saint.
